Wissensfabrik Deutschland e. V.
Wissensfabrik means Knowledge Factory and is the telling name for one of Germany’s most ambitious, non-governmental economic initiatives. Wissensfabrik was founded in January 2005 by BASF, Bosch, fischer, Follmann, KSB, Trumpf, ThyssenKrupp, Voith and Wall. The members consider knowledge to be Germany’s most important resource for the future. Their aim is to promote knowledge and to make sure today that Germany will also stand its ground in tomorrow’s global competition of ideas and technologies.
Meanwhile the network has expanded to 35 members. One focus of their activities is education, the other is entre- preneur-ship. The Wissensfabrik network comprises over 300 partner-ships with schools and kindergartens, representing total funding of approximately € 25 million. Current projects focus on early childhood development in kindergartens and primary schools.
However, Wissensfabrik not only supports tomorrow’s entre- preneurs. With its mentor program, Wissensfabrik actively assists new businesses and young entrepreneurs with ex-perienced managers from member companies. Thus, Wissensfabrik members provide their field-proven expertise to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit in Germany.
